Summary

Wooden stakes, stones and planks have been found on the shore at Harty Ferry, Isle of Sheppey. It is suggested that this is part of an old sea defence.

Full Description

Double row of wooden stakes running parallel to foreshore. About 10m long, the stakes are 0.1m to 0.15m apart, distance to second row is about 0.4m. It has a stone layer on the inland side. The stakes are 0.15 m high, 0.05m in diameter. 6 m further inland, there are wooden planks standing upright in the mud. Possibly part of an old sea defence? (1)
