Full Description
A great storm in 1779 uncovered the foundations and surrounding graveyard of a church on the beach to the north of Seasalter. Much of the town has been eroded away and it is likely that the Saxo-Norman borough and church recorded in Domesday has been destroyed by the sea. This site is therefore possibly the centre of the Anglo-Saxon borough (1). Alternative locations are around the church of St Alphege (TR 06 SE 1) or closer to the saltings (TR 06 SE 13).
