Summary

Three closely spaced linear banks, probably Medieval or Post Medieval sea defences, located about one kilometre east of Hoo St Werburgh slightly inland of the present bank of the Medway, have been mapped from aerial photographs as part of the English Heritage: Hoo Peninsula Landscape Project. The features are similar to, and possibly associated with, linear banks just to the west and others farther to the west and north. The sea defences comprise three banks and two ditches aligned north to south, ending adjacent to the present sea wall.
