Full Description
Three closely spaced linear banks centred at TQ 7943 7181, probably Medieval or Post Medieval sea defences, located about one kilometre east of Hoo St Werburgh slightly inland of the present bank of the Medway, have been mapped from aerial photographs as part of the English Heritage: Hoo Peninsula Landscape Project. The features are similar to, and possibly associated with, linear banks just to the west (Monument 1547452) and others farther to the west (Monument 1547450) and north (Monument 1547412). The sea defences comprise three banks and two ditches about 107m long in total, aligned north to south, ending adjacent to the present sea wall. (1-2)
