Monument record TQ 77 SE 1092 - Site of a post medieval wharf, Abbots Court wharf, Hoo St. Werburgh
Summary
The remains of the post medieval Abbot's Court Wharf can be seen on aerial photographs taken in 2007 and 2010. The remains consist of a number of wooden stakes in the mud of Hoo Flats south-east of Abbot's Court. The Ordnance Survey shows a wharf here since at least 1862 although it was not marked as a wharf until 1896. A group of concrete posts can be seen circa 20m to the north. These were mapped from aerial photographs as part of the English Heritage: Hoo Peninsula Landscape Project.
