Full Description

One of a group of eight salt-working mounds on the Leysdown Marshes. Published 25" survey correct.

[For salt-working on Sheppey see TQ 97 SW 6]. (1) TR 029694. Five mounds, three of which were part of group marked `(5)'. Two of the original group were not apparent but two new mounds were added. TR 02656942, TR 02816933, TR 02846935, TR 02986960, TR 03096959. (2) Isles of Sheppey and Harty: The salt water creeks of these isles contain a large number of mounds similar to those excavated at Seasalter (TR 06 SE 6). They represent the remains of medieval salt working (3). Additional references (4,5). Photographs (6,7).
