Full Description
One of four salt-working mounds on the Harty Marshes. Published 25" survey revised. [For salt-working on Sheppey see TQ 97 SW 6] (1) Two large mounds, poss salt works, at 01316827 and 01326831. (2) Three mounds part of a group of five. Two mounds not visible, plotted at TR 01156752,01316772, 01396804. (3) Isles of Sheppey and Harty: The salt water creeks of these isles contain a large number of mounds similar to those excavated at Seasalter (TR 06 SE 6). They represent the remains of medieval salt working (4). Additional references (5,6). Photograph (7).
