Summary

This is one of a group of three earth mounds on the Harty marshes. These mounds are the remains of salt workings and are thought to be medieval. Post medieval pottery, including one salt-glazed piece, has been found on the site. A later inspection suggests that there are five mounds plus an oval hollow and a very small mound. Salt working remains of this kind are common on the Harty and Seasalter marshes.
