Full Description
The cut appeared almost square in plan but with very rounded corners. It measured 0.45m north to south, 0.92m east to west and 0.54m deep. It had steep sloping sides and flat base. The primary fill [10] was made up of mostly large chalk fragments and flint in mid brown loose silt and decayed chalk, and this is thought to be the post packing. The post pipe (8) appeared as mid brown silt with occasional small flint pebbles and chalk fragments.
