Full Description
Fllint was recoverd from the two lower peat deposits,1120 and 1119. Additional flint work was recovered from deposits 1116 and 1115 including large irregular flint nodules, which are unlikely to have been transported over large distance in the channel. The presence of these nodules, along with a number of tested ('bashed') nodules and the indication that some of the flakes derived from the same core, suggest possible knapping close to the water course although evidence of this was far from certain or conclusive. Flint work was also recovered from probable clay-silt layer, 11, which may reflect its marginal location away from the lowest levels of the valley. [1]
