Full Description

Palaeo-environmental remains were recovered from bulk sediment samples taken from sections of the dig for a new pond in 1998, from clayey deposits above thin basal gravels; NB Pleistocene deposits were hard to distinguish from London Clay, but slightly softer and contained visible molluscs in places, such as large fragmentary mussels. Deposits were dated to c. MIS 9 on bio-stratigraphic grounds (1).
