Full Description

Miskin Road, Dartford, worked Palaeolithic flints - two of them possibly flake-tools, the other waste debitage; seen by Roe in Dartford Museum (1) and then included in SRPP (2)

An evaluation carried out in 2003 identified a number of artefacts including flakes and a scraper-type implement. Several flakes may have originated from the manufacture of handaxe(s). Some of the artefacts were assigned a Pleistocene date for their manufacture, whilst others were dated to the Lower-Middle Palaeolithic. All the artefacts showed evidence (edge chipping and rounding) for having been transported in a fluvial context, such as a river, if only for a short distance. (3, 4)
