Series of WWII slit trenches and associated banks, mapped from military aerial photographs taken in 1941.

Two L-shaped slit trenches are visible surrounded by a bank, both of which are 11m wide, whereas the short length of trench to the south (measuring 5.6m long) does not have an accompanying bank. The three features are situated in a row within 105m of each other and are parallel to the coastline.

These military features are first visible in January 1941 [1] and have been mapped using photographs taken in May 1942 [2]. By April 1946 [3] the features have been backfilled.

A transcription of all features recorded from aerial photographs as part of the South East Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey exists within a GIS layer held by this HER [4].
