Full Description

WWII oval banked gun pit, Shell Ness, Pegwell Bay, visible in military aerial photographs taken in 1946.

The bank of the gun pit is oval in plan with an entrance on the northern face, and has an internal diameter of 7m by 5m. The feature is first visible on photographs taken in January 1946 [1] and is still visible in April 1950 [2]. However it is no longer visible on the PGA data for the area taken in 2003 [3].
