Full Description
Two Nissen huts surrounded by a wall within the town and interpreted as a public air raid shelter (in addition to another shelter in Worth - MKE16635). The buildings lie next to each other and measure 10.8m by 4.8m. The wall encloses three sides of structures leaving a gap for the entrances on the fourth side. The features were first visible on photographs taken in April 1945 [1] and were mapped from a series from April 1946 [2] where the buildings had been removed leaving only the hard standing. There is no sign of the features by April 1950 [3].
A transcription of the features recorded from aerial photographs exists within a GIS layer held by this HER.
