Full Description

A group of five banked sub-circular embankments, situated in close proximity to a number of World War Two features and structures at Swingate and 200m north of Langdon Cliffs East Dover. The five closely spaced sub-circular embankments measure between 8m and 9m in diameter and positioned extremely close in photographs when the features were mapped in December 1945 [1], these embankments may have been used to house munitions or expelled cartridges from the Heavy Anti-Aircraft Battery on St Margaret's-at-Cliffe Mke19901.

A line of barbed wire was obsereved to run through one embankment to the east of the group when they were all initally observed in December 1941 [2]. This barbed wire was fragmented but still in a similar position in December 1945 [1]. They were last obsereved in December1949 [3] but were removed by August 1954 [4].

A transcription of the features recorded from aerial photographs exists within a GIS layer held by this HER.
