WWII earthwork of unknown function visible in 1946, located in St Margaret’s at Cliffe. The banked enclosure may have formed the foundation of a military structure and lay alongside a length of barbed wire and associated features. The site was no longer visible in 1950 or 2007.

Full Description

WWII earthwork of unknown function visible on aerial photography taken in 1946 [1], located in St Margaret’s at Cliffe. This banked enclosure may have formed the foundation of a military structure. The feature was 23m x 15m in total, with banks of 1.5 – 4.5m thick, and lay alongside a length of barbed wire and associated features (MWX43519). The site was no longer visible on aerial photographs taken in 1950 [2] or on Next Perspectives photography taken in 2007 [3].
