Full Description
A WWII defended house on the seafront, Marine Road, at Deal, just south of Deal Castle. The boundary of the building has been mapped as an extent of area from military aerial photographs taken in August 1943 [1], although it was first visible as a building on the 1899 Epoch 2 OS mapping [2]. It would have been structurally altered during WWII and used by the military, possibly as an observation point. The building is still visible in April 2007 [3] and the signboard reads 'Clanwilliam House 1878'.
A transcription of the extent of area recorded from aerial photographs exists within a GIS layer held by this HER.
