Full Description
WWII bomb craters visible on aerial photography taken in 1942 and 1945 [1 and 2], located in Dover. The thirteen craters ranged between 4m and 12m in diameter, with upcast of up to 44m in diameter. These features were seen to be within a 330m x 340m area. Many of the craters were visible as parchmarks on Next Perspectives photography taken in 2007 [3], as the area was preserved as grassland.
These features were located alongside an area of air raid shelters (MWX43538, NMR467930 and MKE6994) and defensive earthworks (MWX43540). To the E lay two radar stations (MKE9024) and (MWX43573) and slit trenches (MWX43577).
A transcription of the features recorded from aerial photographs exists within a GIS layer held by this HER.
