Full Description
Five WWII bomb craters visible on aerial photographs taken in 1941, 1942, 1946 and 1947 [1, 2, 3 and 4], located in Dover. The site measured 500m x 230m at maximum dimensions. Craters measured between 28m and 5m in diameter and were mapped as upcast with internal ditches when these were seen. These features were no longer visible on Next Perspectives photography taken in 2007 [5], when they were seen to be under scrubland and a housing estate.
These craters were located close to the Citadel Battery (Mke41972, MKE7131 and NMR 1307262).
A transcription of the feature recorded from aerial photographs exists within a GIS layer held by this HER.
