Summary

WWII slit trenches visible in 1942, 1945 and 1947, located in Dover. These ditches were of unknown function, but may have provided a training or defensive purpose. The features were no longer visible on Next Perspectives photography taken in 2003, although the area was under grassland.

Full Description

WWII slit trenches visible on aerial photography taken in 1942, 1945 and 1947 [1, 2 and 3], located in Dover. These ditches were of unknown function, but may have provided a training or defensive purpose. The site measured 40m x 24m at maximum dimensions and was covered by three lines of barbed wire (MWX43624). It was located 60m S of Western Heights (MKE7019 and NMR 468101). The feature was no longer visible on Next Perspectives photography taken in 2003 [4], although the area was under grassland.
