Full Description
WWII barbed wire visible on aerial photographs taken in 1946 [1], located on the beach at Kingsdown. The wire ran for a total of 370m mostly as a single line, but the southernmost 75m were visible as a double thickness of wire. Next Perspectives photography taken in 2003 [2] showed the features to have been removed, with the site partially in the intertidal zone.
This wire was connected in the N to the enclosing barbed wire of a WWII military site (MWX43627). A single line of WWII beach scaffolding lay to the E (MWX43630).
A transcription of the features recorded from aerial photographs exists within a GIS layer held by this HER.
