Summary

WWII barbed wire visible in 1946, located on the beach at Kingsdown. The wire ran as a single line, but the southernmost section was visible as a double thickness of wire. Next Perspectives photography taken in 2003 showed the features to have been removed with the site partially in the intertidal zone.

Full Description

WWII barbed wire visible on aerial photographs taken in 1946 [1], located on the beach at Kingsdown. The wire ran for a total of 370m mostly as a single line, but the southernmost 75m were visible as a double thickness of wire. Next Perspectives photography taken in 2003 [2] showed the features to have been removed, with the site partially in the intertidal zone.

This wire was connected in the N to the enclosing barbed wire of a WWII military site (MWX43627). A single line of WWII beach scaffolding lay to the E (MWX43630).
