WWII beach defences visible on aerial photographs taken in 1942 and 1946 [1 and 2], but not in 1941 [3], located between Walmer and Kingsdown. The defences were individual structures which occurred alone or as attached lines. Most lay at an angle to the high water mark. The line of structures ran along the top of the beach roughly N-S for 940m with a break of 140m. The northern stretch measured 200m and the southern stretch 800m. None of the structures were visible on Next Perspectives photography taken in 2003 [4 and 5].
