Full Description
Four probable pillboxes dating to WWII visible on aerial photographs taken in 1942, 1943 and 1946 [1, 2 and 3], located on the beach at Kingsdown. These features were located within a roughly semi-circular beach obstacle comprised of what is likely to have been piled stones (MWX43642). These structures lay between 60m and 85m W of the high water mark. They were not visible on Next Perspectives photography taken in 2003 [4].
The structures were located just W of a double line of beach scaffolding (MWX43629).
A transcription of the features recorded from aerial photographs exists within a GIS layer held by this HER.
