WWII probable gun emplacement visible in 1946, located in Walmer. The feature was not visible in 1942. This circular ditch with external banking measured approximately 5m in diameter. The emplacement was not visible in 2003 when the area had been developed upon.

Full Description

WWII probable gun emplacement visible on aerial photographs taken in 1946 [1], located in Walmer. The feature was not visible on aerial photographs taken in 1942 [2]. This circular ditch with external banking measured approximately 5m in diameter. The emplacement was not visible on Next Perspectives photography taken in 2003 [3] when the area had been developed upon.

This feature was located 50m W of WWII barbed wire (MWX43655), 20m N of an area of WWII earthworks (MWX43653), 46m NE of a WWII military camp (MWX43651) and 60m NW of WWII defences around Walmer Castle (MWX43652). The defences around Walmer Castle included a similar gun emplacement.
