Summary

WWII barbed wire visible in 1942, located in Walmer. This single line of wire ran in a curving manner to form a rough L-shape which segmented the SW corner of a field. The wire itself was 168m long. The wire was no longer visible in 1946. The site was not visible in 2003 when the area had been developed upon.

Full Description

WWII barbed wire visible on aerial photography taken in 1942 [1], located in Walmer. This single line of wire ran in a curving manner to form a rough L-shape which segmented the SW corner of a field. The wire itself was 168m long. The wire was no longer visible on aerial photography taken in 1946 [2]. The site was not visible on Next Perspectives photography taken in 2003 [3] when the area had been developed upon.

Just to the S lay a WWII probable gun emplacement (MWX43654), and WWII earthworks (MWX43653), 65m to the SW lay a WWII military camp (MWX43651) and 55m to the SSE lay WWII defences around Walmer Castle (MWX43652).
