Full Description
Extraction pits visible on aerial photographs taken in 1942 [1], located in Walmer. The pit to the S is visible on aerial photography taken in 1946 [2], but is seen to have been truncated by a new road. These features were not visible on OS historic mapping [3], thus it is likely that they were created during WWII and were possibly related to military activities in the area. The features were not visible on Next Perspectives photography taken in 2003 [4].
A transcription of the features recorded from aerial photographs exists within a GIS layer held by this HER.
