Summary

WWII site of unknown function, but likely military, visible in 1946, located in Walmer. This site was not visible in 1942. The site was comprised of four small structures set within an enclosure of barbed wire with an external earthwork of unknown function. The site was not visible in 2003.

Full Description

WWII site of unknown function, but likely military, visible on aerial photographs taken in 1946 [1], located in Walmer. This site was not visible on aerial photographs taken in 1942 [2]. The site was comprised of four small structures all less than 3m long, set within an enclosure of barbed wire which measured 270 x 10m and was between on and two lengths of wire thick. Set 12m S of the barbed wire was a circular earthwork 10.5m in diameter of unknown function. The site was not visible on Next Perspectives photography taken in 2003 [3].

The site was located close to another WWII site to the W (MWX43666) and a single line of WWII barbed wire to the S (MWX43668).
