Full Description
Cropmarks of banked features, some possibly representing enclosures, visible on aerial photographs taken in 1980 [1], located in Hacklinge. Most of the thirteen cropmarks were irregularly shaped, however two in the S appeared as curvilinear banks less than 2m thick. The linear earthworks appeared to have been stepped by the plough on the 1980 photography. The earthworks were within an area measuring 255 x 52m at maximum dimensions. The features were not visible on Next Perspectives photography taken in 2003 [2].
This site was crossed by an area of possible former field boundaries (MWX43701). The boundaries were orientated NW-SE, while these cropmarks mainly ran NE-SW. To the E was located a banked cropmark enclosure (MWX43700).
A transcription of the features recorded from aerial photographs exists within a GIS layer held by this HER.
