Shingle End Coastguard Station was recorded on the Ordnance Survey 1877 edition. This was still visible on the Ordnance Survey 1946 edition. It was no longer recorded on MasterMap dating to 2009. The area was given a monument polygon during historic mapping enhancement as part of Phase 1 of the South East Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey.
