A coastguard station is only visible on the Epoch 1 (1877) edition of the historic 1:2500 Ordnance Survey mapping, located on the coast south of Capel-le-Ferne [1]. Epochs 2 and 3 were not available for this area and there is no evidence of the coastguard station on the Epoch 4 edition (1938) [2].
Since the location of the coastguard station could not be ascertained, a point was placed on the 'Coastguard Station' label during historic mapping enhancement as part of Phase 1 of the South East Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey.
