A slipway on the promenade between Hythe and Seabrook is visible on Epochs 2-4 (1899, 1908 and 1946) of the 1:2500 historic Ordnance Survey mapping. The feature was given a monument polygon during historic mapping enhancement as part of the South East Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey.
