The Galloways Coastguard Station is visible on the Epoch 1, 2 and 3 (1877, 1899 and 1909) editions of the historic 1:2500 Ordnance Survey mapping [1-3]. A footpath extends from the buildings associated with the coastguard station towards the coastline where a look out is positioned - visible as a small rectangular structure (2.5m by 2m). Epoch 4 (1938) mapping is not available for this area [4], however, neither the structures associated with the coastguard station nor the look out are visible on MasterMap (2009) [5].
The extent of the station and associated structures were given monument polygons (mapped from the Epoch 3 edition [3]) during historic mapping enhancement as part of Phase 1 of the South East Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey.
