Full Description
A Second World War anti tank ditch and an associated barbed wire obstruction are visible as an earthwork and a structure on aerial photographs taken in 1945. The barbed wire has been removed on aerial photographs taken in 1959, and the ditch has been backfilled and is visible as a cropmark. The site as a whole is centred on TR 2409 3767. This anti tank ditch is part of a much larger system of anti tank ditches and anti invasion defences which extend to the north around Folkestone. The barbed wire obstruction extends northeastwards, and abuts the perimeter of the Capel Point battery (1416952). A section of anti tank ditch 87 metres to the north is recorded as (1533014). This site has been mapped from aerial photographs as part of the South East Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey NMP (Component 2) (1-3).
