Full Description
Pillbox; no specification. Type 24 concrete pillbox at the edge of the military ranges. The embrasures are bricked up. [There is no public access to this site as it is on military land]. Pillbox [Sector 4]. Cassini ref 569508. On the sea front between Dymchurch and Hythe, on the perimeter of the Hythe military ranges, on the Dymchurch road opposite Palmarsh Road. (1) The type 24 pillbox referred to above (source 1) is visible on aerial photographs taken in 1946 and has been mapped as part of the South East Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment NMP. The pillbox is facing south towards the coast, with the entrance porch on the north side. (2)
