Full Description
A Second World War trench system is visible as earthworks on aerial photographs taken in 1942 and has been mapped as part of the South East Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey NMP. The trench system is located within the old Shorncliffe Battery, north of the battery wall (Monument Number 619776). The linear trenches are interconnected and cover an area that measures 152meters by 65meters and centred at TR 19096 34939. The trenches were levelled by 1966, and the site is now occupied by a modern housing development. (1-2)
