Full Description
A circular section of Second World War barbed wire obstructions are visible on aerial photographs taken in the 1940s and has been mapped as part of the South East Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment NMP. The barbed wire is located within the Hythe firing Ranges (Monument Number 1531850) and surrounds the Second World War pillbox recorded at TR 1396 3333 (Monument Number 1422549). The barbed wire extends from TR 1382 3325, to TR 1382 3321, south to TR 1386 3318 then east to TR 1400 3331, north o TR 1395 3340, northeast to TR 1389 3343, west to TR 1384 3342 and southwest to TR 1382 3340. It is likely that coarse vegetation is disguising the barbed wire between TR 1382 3325 and TR 1382 3340. The barbed wire was removed after the war. (1)
