Full Description

A group of First World War practice trenches are visible as earthworks on an aerial photograph taken in 1917, though the area is obscured by vegetation on later aerial photographs. The site is centred on approximately TR 2169 3522 and comprises a linear practice trench with rectilinear projections and three possible slit trenches. It was not possible to get sufficient known points on the photograph in order to place the site accurately on the map, so these features have been sketched. This site has been mapped from aerial photographs as part of the South East Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey NMP (Component 2) (1).
