Summary

A group of Second World War tents or storehouses are visible as cropmarks on aerial photographs taken in 1946. The site comprises 19 rectangular and sub rectangular cropmarks. This camp is likely to have been an accommodation site for one of the nearby military sites, perhaps the series of Light Anti Aircraft Diver Batteries along the cliff edge (NMR: 1478073 and NMR: 1478142). This site has been mapped from aerial photographs as part of the South East Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey NMP (Component 2).

Full Description

A group of Second World War barracks or storehouses are visible as cropmarks on aerial photographs taken in 1946. The site comprises 19 rectangular and sub rectangular cropmarks, probably of tents or crates. The site is centred on TR 2759 3892 and extend over an area which measures circa 130 metres east-west and 98 metres north-south. This camp is likely to have been an accommodation site for one of the nearby military sites, perhaps the series of Light Anti Aircraft Diver Batteries along the cliff edge (NMR: 1478073 and NMR: 1478142). This site has been mapped from aerial photographs as part of the South East Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey NMP (Component 2) (1).
