Full Description

A large Second World War bomb crater is visible on aerial photographs of 1941 as a hollow on what was then the north-eastern side of the Marshland Sewer at Dunkirk End. This feature has been mapped from aerial photographs as part of the South East RCZAS NMP project. The bomb crater is centred at TR 0998 2916, and measures approximately 11m in diameter. Since the aerial photograph was taken in 1941; the course of the Marshland Sewer has been moved and the site of the bomb crater is now on the south-western side of the channel. The vertical aerial photograph of 2006 shows a large building under construction at this location (1-2).
