Summary

A line of Second World War anti tank obstacles are visible on aerial photographs taken in 1942. The obstacles are located at the east end of Marine Parade and extend westwards to the south of Stade street, Hythe. The obstacles were not visible on recent aerial photographs and were likely removed after the war.

Full Description

A line of Second World War anti tank obstacles are visible on aerial photographs taken in 1942 and have been mapped as part of the South East Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey NMP. The obstacles are located at the east end of Marine Parade and extend westwards to the south of Stade street, Hythe extending from TR 16839 34347 to TR 16263 34163. It is not clear what type of obstacles these are but may by anti tank pimples or cylinders. They were not visible on recent aerial photographs and were likely removed after the war. (1)
