Full Description
A network of Second World War barbed wire obstructions are visible as structures on aerial photographs taken in 1946, though it has been removed on aerial photographs taken in 1966. The site is centred on TR 2925 3981, and extends over roughly 335 metres east-west and 510 metres north-south. The barbed wire links up the perimeters of the Dover Heavy Anti Aircraft Battery (NMR: 1442409) and Hougham Coastal Battery (NMR: 1423505). This site has been mapped from aerial photographs as part of the South East Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey NMP (Component 2)(1-2). Though not all lengths of barbed wire visible on 1946 Aps have been mapped, for some unknown reason.
