Monument record MWX51513 - Capel 'Y' station, Abbots Cliff

Summary

During the Second World War a 'Y' station was built at Abbot's Cliff, Capel. The station was designed to listen out for enemy radio transmissions. If a signal was heard it would take a bearing to help identify the location. The building consisted of a blast wall c. 3m high and inside was a tall wooden structure c. 8m high with the aerial on the top.
