Monument record MWX51534 - Second World War military features

Summary

A small cluster of Second World War military features are visible on aerial photographs of 1941 and 1946 as structures and earthworks around the Coastguard Lookout and cottages to the east of Abnor Pit, Denge Marsh. They include barbed wire, slit trenches, a coastal battery and gun emplacements. By the time of the next available vertical aerial photograph of 1958; all the Second World War features had been removed, along with the pre-war coastguard cottages. These features have been mapped from aerial photographs as part of the South East RCZAS NMP project.
