Summary

An area of parallel rows of Second World War anti tank obstacles is visible on aerial photographs taken in 1946. The anti tank obstacles comprise anti tank cubes or cylinders, which are located within now Sewage Works at Range Road, west of Hythe. The obstacles were removed after the war.

Full Description

An area of parallel rows of Second World War anti tank obstacles is visible on aerial photographs taken in 1946 and have been mapped as part of the South East Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey NMP. The anti tank obstacles comprise anti tank cubes or cylinders, which are located within the now Sewage Works at Range Road, west of Hythe and centred at TR 15741 33961. The site was once a Gas Works. The anti tank obstacles formed part of the anti invasion defences along this part of the coastline.. The obstacles were removed after the war. (1)
