Full Description

The scatter of small round stack-stand mounds is centred at TR 0941 2880, and extends across an area measuring approximately 730m south-west to north-east and 480m north-west to south-east. There are 23 circular stack-stands in total, measuring between two to six metres in diameter. It appears that there are up to five stack stands per field, but the boundaries of earlier post-medieval plots are visible on the 1941 vertical aerial photographs as shallow banks and ditches. This shows that there was a single stack stand to each sub-division of land. By the time of the vertical aerial photographs of 1946; the stack stands had been levelled and were not visible in any form (1-2).
