Full Description
Variant of the common Dover-type square pillbox (brick-shuttered), with overhanging roof slab and 1 embrasure per side. This site has been mapped from aerial photographs as part of the South East Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Survey NMP (Component 2), and is as described above by authority 1 (2). Pillbox of non-standard design for the area, having a smaller roof size and additional structure built against its side. Interior not accessible.'Mine' variant of common Dover square pillbox with overhanging roof slab and one embrasure per side. Embrasures blocked and entrance buried. Made of brick shuttered concrete and in fair condition. Located on the edge of the Hougham Battery site. [N.B. There are two SMR entries and references for what appear to be the same site]. At the edge of the Hougham Battery site, at top of a bank overlooking the new A20 road. (1)
