Full Description
Site of Second World War heavy anti aircraft (Diver) battery at Hythe, deployed here by 30th July 1944. It was armed with four mobile 90mm guns, and was manned by 124 Battalion of the USAAF. It was redeployed to TR127328 on 23rd August 1944. This formed part of the Littlestone Section of American Anti Aircraft Mobile Battalion Heavy Anti Aircraft Artillery. (1) The Second World War heavy anti aircraft (Diver) battery referred to above (1) was not visible at either location, on the available historic aerial photographs taken in 1946 viewed as part of the South East Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment NMP. This was a mobile unit and likely did not leave any trace on the ground. (2)
