Full Description
Site of Second World War heavy anti aircraft (Diver) battery at Hythe, deployed here on 23rd August 1944. It was armed with four mobile 90mm guns, and was manned by B/124 Battalion of the USAAF. It was redeployed here from TR124332 on 23rd August 1944. This formed part of the Littlestone Section of American Anti Aircraft Mobile Battalion Heavy Anti Aircraft Artillery. (1) The Second World War heavy anti aircraft (Diver) battery referred to above (Source 1) was not visible on the historical aerial photographs taken in 1946, which were viewed as part of the South East Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment NMP. There are some areas of disturbed ground which may indicate the location of battery but this is not clear. (2)
