This formed part of the Littlestone Section of American Anti Aircraft Mobile Battalion Heavy Anti Aircraft Artillery. The battery was not visible on the available historic aerial photographs.

Site of Second World War heavy anti aircraft (Diver) battery at Nicholls Quarry,Hythe, deployed here on 2nd August 1944, and was armed with four mobile 90mm guns. This formed part of the Littlestone Section of American Anti Aircraft Mobile Battalion Heavy Anti Aircraft Artillery. (1)
The Second World War heavy anti aircraft (Diver) battery referred to above (1) was not visible at either location, on the available historic aerial photographs taken in 1946 viewed as part of the South East Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment NMP. This was a mobile unit and likely did not leave any trace on the ground. (2)
