Full Description

The group of three bomb craters is centred at TR 0971 2865, and extends across an area measuring approximately 47m north to south and 64m east to west. They vary from 5-11m in diameter. The two southernmost bomb craters have a 2m wide banked rim around the edge of their perfectly circular craters. It is thought this may be a result of upcast soil from the explosion. By the time of the vertical aerial photographs of 1946; the bomb craters were no longer visible. This area has subsequently been further developed for housing, and although the bombs just missed the houses extant in 1941; the sites of the bomb craters now lie beneath houses and back gardens of High Knocke (1-2).
